“Why I Left Real Madrid” – Juventus Star, Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo left the Bernabeu to go to Juventus after the World Cup after he fell out of love with Real Madrid

However he has confirmed that this was not for sporting reasons, but due to a break down in relations with the club’s president – Florentino Perez.

Perez is renowned as a shrewd, ruthless operator and according to an interview with ‘France Football’, his treatment of Ronaldo as a commodity rather than a person angered the former Manchester United man.

“I felt it inside the club, especially from the president, that they no longer considered me the same way that they did in the start,” he commented.

“In the first four or five years there, I had the feeling of being ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’. Less afterwards. The president looked at me through eyes that didn’t want to say the same thing, as if I was no longer indispensable to them, if you know what I mean.

“That’s what made me think about leaving. Sometimes I’d look at the news, where they were saying I was asking to leave. There was a bit of that, but the truth is that I always had the impression that the president would not hold me back.

”If it had all been about money, I’d have moved to China, where I would have earned five times as much than here [at Juventus] or at Real. I did not come to Juve for the money. I earned the same in Madrid, if not more. The difference is that, at Juve, they really wanted me. They told me that and made it clear. They showed me that.”

He continued to criticise the Real chief, saying: “He only ever looked at me as a business relationship. I know it. What he told me never came from the heart.”

It had been suggested that Ronaldo left due to Zinedine Zidane’s departure as manager but he denied this, saying: “My decision to leave was not based on his departure. That being the case, it’s one of those little things that made me feel a bit better in terms of what I thought of the situation at the club.”

Ronaldo Now Eligible To Face Manchester United In The UCL At Old Trafford

UEFA

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo will be available to play former club Manchester United next month after Uefa ruled he must serve only a one-match ban for his Champions League red card.

The Portugal captain, 33, was sent off during Juve’s 2-0 win over Valencia last week after appearing to pull defender Jeison Murillo’s hair.
It was the first Champions League red card of Ronaldo’s career.
Juventus play United in Group H at Old Trafford on 23 October.

A three-match suspension would have seen Ronaldo also miss the return fixture in Turin on 7 November.
He will definitely miss Juve’s next Champions League game against Swiss club Young Boys on 2 October.
Five-time Champions League winner Ronaldo – who joined Juve from Real Madrid for £99.2m in the summer – tried to latch onto a cross when he was blocked off by a tumbling Murillo.
He gesticulated to Murillo to get up and appeared to pull the defender’s hair before turning away in frustration.
Referee Felix Brych consulted his assistant behind the goal before producing a red card, reducing Ronaldo to tears as he left the pitch.

Unlike the Premier League’s automatic three-game ban for violent conduct, Uefa’s punishments are on a case-by-case basis.
A one-game ban is automatic – with no right of appeal – but Uefa regulation 50.01 for the competition says that “in case of serious offences, the Uefa control, ethics and disciplinary body is entitled to augment this punishment”.

US Open Final: Serena Williams Accuses Umpire Ramos Of ‘Sexism’

Serena Williams has reacted to her fued with US Open final umpire Carlos Ramos by saying he would not have treated a man in the same way.

Serena allegedly branded Ramos a ‘thief’ during the final in a incredible match Flushing Meadows as she lost 6-2 6-4 to Naomi Osaka.

Serena refused to shake Umpire Ramos after the match having been given a game penalty for her outburst.

This came after Serena was accused of being coached from the sidelines.

She received a code violation and then smashed her racquet before having the game taken off her for the thief comment.

When asked if she would change anything from incident, Williams went on another rant, claiming men would not be treated how she was.

“I don’t know,” she said.

“You definitely can’t go back in time. I can’t sit here and say I wouldn’t say he’s a thief, because I thought he took a game from me.

“But I’ve seen other men call other umpires several things. I’m here fighting for women’s rights and for women’s equality and for all kinds of stuff.

“For me to say ‘thief’ and for him to take a game, it made me feel like it was a sexist remark. He’s never taken a game from a man because they said ‘thief’.

“For me it blows my mind. But I’m going to continue to fight for women and to fight for us to have equal — like Cornet should be able to take off her shirt without getting a fine. This is outrageous.

“I just feel like the fact that I have to go through this is just an example for the next person that has emotions, and that want to express themselves, and want tobe a strong woman.

“They’re going to be allowed to do that because of today. Maybe it didn’t work out for me, but it’s going to work out for the next person.”

Asked why she thought the Umpire was a thief, Serena said: “Because he took a point from me,” she added.

“He alleged that I was cheating, and I wasn’t cheating. Then I had a good conversation with him. I said, Listen, you know my character. You know me really well. Like you know that I don’t even call for on-court coach. I don’t even do that.

“He’s like, You know what? I understand. I don’t know if he said, You’re right. But he understood. He’s, like, Yeah, I get what you’re saying.

“Then when I sat down, I said it again. I was, like, Just to be clear, I can understand what you saw because it may have looked — just because I look at my box, it may have looked like I was getting coaching, but I’m telling you, that’s not what I do. I said, I’d rather lose than have to cheat to win. I don’t need to cheat to win. I’ve won enough. That’s never been something I’ve ever done, you know.

“And he was cool. He was like, Oh, I get it. We had this great exchange. We were on the same page. We understood each other, and I felt that that was — yeah.”

Uncertainty Rocks N’golo Kante New Role: Questions On Chelsea Fans Lips

N’Golo Kante since the arrival of Italian boss Maurizio Sarri, have been deployed to a different role. The French international have been licenced to move further up in the middle of the park. This have seen him score Chelsea’s first league goal of the 2018/2019 football season against Hudderfield on Match day 1.

The Chelsea star featured with Teammate Jorginho in the recent game against Arsenal, with the Italian sitting deep to protect the back four. Pedro, Morata and Alonso all scored as Chelsea defeated the North London side.

While Chelsea did their bidding in overall, the former Leicester city midfield had enviable match stats. Kante had three shots at goal. Completed 92 percent of his passes, won three tackles and made complete dribbles in style.

Blues Legend Pat Nevin was full of praise for the Frenchman in his interview.

“The question will be asked by many Chelsea fans, is it really a good idea to have so many attacking players on the field and also asking our best defensive midfielder, N’Golo Kante, to play that much further up the field, especially when we come to face the very best sides?” Nevin told Chelsea FC’s website.

“Time will tell but as I have suggested already on this page, Maurizio Sarri is unlikely to stray from his stated style.

“Kante himself looked incredible in his new role, making runs behind the Arsenal defence that any centre-forward would be proud of. It does leave Jorginho more often than not as the deepest midfielder and his best talents are clearly creating from there rather than covering defensively.”
